English champion Manchester City returned from the Spanish stronghold of Real Madrid with a very exciting 3-3 draw after a volatile match – Tuesday – in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the European Champions League.

In a repeat of last season’s semi-final, when they tied in the first leg in Madrid 1-1 before City achieved a sweeping victory in the return 4-0 on its way to the first title in its history, City took the lead on Tuesday less than two minutes after the start through Portuguese Bernardo Silva (2), before Real responded with two goals from Portuguese Ruben Diash (12 fouls against his team) and Brazilian Rodrigo (14).

But with two wonderful goals from outside the area by Phil Foden (66) and Croatian Joshko Gvardiol (71), City regained the lead before Uruguayan Federico Valverde saved Real from their first defeat in their last 28 home matches in all competitions, by scoring the equalizer with a wonderful shot “on Al-Tayer” (79).

Thus, in the 200th match for Real Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti in the competition (a record), the first chapter of the confrontation between last season’s champion and the record holder in the number of titles (14) rose to the level of expectations, awaiting what the result of the return match next Wednesday at the “Stadium “Al-Ittihad”, where Real Madrid yearns for revenge.

But the task will not be easy against the Spanish team of Pep Guardiola, which has not lost in the continental competition for the twenty-second match in a row, specifically since losing to the Spanish giants 1-3 after extra time in May 2022 in the second leg of the semi-finals.

Arsenal settled for a draw with Bayern Munich

English Arsenal settled for a 2-2 draw with its German guest, Bayern Munich, at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal did not benefit from their lead with a goal scored by Bukayo Saka in the 12th minute after a wonderful shot from inside the penalty area to the right of Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

The Bavarian guest equalized in the 18th minute when Leon Gruitska passed the ball to Serge Gnabry, and the latter shot from inside the penalty area between the feet of Spanish goalkeeper Davia Raya.

The referee of the match awarded a penalty kick after Arsenal defender William Saliba obstructed German winger Leroy Sane, and Harry Kane successfully fired the kick to the left of David Raya, scoring a second goal for Bayern Munich in the 32nd minute.

Arsenal succeeded in equalizing in the second half in the 76th minute after a pass from Gabriel Jesus was met by Leandro Trossard with a direct shot into the net.
