Real Madrid and Germany midfielder Toni Kroos announced today, Tuesday, that he will retire permanently after the European Cup (Euro 2024) finals scheduled in his country next summer.
Kroos, 34, wrote in an emotional statement on Instagram, “My football career will end this summer, after the European Cup. As I have always said, Real Madrid is my last team and it will be so,” stressing that his ambition has always been “to end the season at the best level.”
He added, “On July 17, 2014 – the day I was introduced to Real Madrid, which changed my life as a football player. It was the beginning of a new chapter in the biggest club in the world. After 10 years, at the end of the season, this chapter ends.”
The 2014 world champion with the “Manschaft” team continued that he would never forget that “successful” time and added, “I would especially like to thank everyone who welcomed me with an open heart and trusted me. But especially I would like to thank you, dear ones, for your affection and love from day one.” Until the last day.”
Kroos, whose contract with Merengue will expire at the end of June, added, “At the same time, this decision means that my career as a football player will end this summer after the European Cup. Kroos won the “Brazil 2014” World Cup with the German national team, and returned from a three-year international retirement last March to support his country’s national team, which is hosting the European Nations Cup during the period from June 14 to July 14, 2024.

Kroos is preparing to play the last two official matches of his career with Real Madrid, where he will play against Real Betis next Saturday in the final stage of the Spanish League, before facing Dortmund in the Champions League final early next month at the ancient Wembley Stadium in the capital, London.
