The preparations are complete, let’s go: The 22nd Pride and Tolerance Parade in Jerusalem will be held today (Thursday) to mark the Abducted Shabbat, under the title Born To Be Free. According to the “Open House for Pride and Tolerance”, the event will be adapted to the spirit of the time and the war and the emphasis will be on the struggle to return the 125 abductees.

The gates will open at 15:00 and the parade will start at 17:00. The event will take place on the traditional marching route, from the bell tower towards Independence Park – and the organizers have announced that the audience will be asked not to play music along it. The signs and pride flags will also be joined by yellow flags and the flags of the struggle for the return of the abducted, and the marchers will be given yellow identification bracelets.

At the end of the parade (19:00) there will be a rally moderated by the journalist and stand-up artist Shir Reuven, and among the speakers on the main stage will be members of the families of the abductees and Omer Ohana, who lost his partner Major Sagi Golan in the war.

The police announced that approximately 2,000 overt and undercover police officers and security forces, with the assistance of police reinforcements and volunteers, will be deployed in the city and will operate along the route of the march, in the assembly areas and in the streets adjacent to the parade route, for the purpose of securing the marchers, maintaining public order and directing traffic.

“The police make it clear that anyone who tries to disrupt the normal course of the pride parade will be dealt with with the utmost severity. In this context, activity is carried out before and during the parade, in the field and in the areas of social networks, to locate and deal with exceptions,” it was stated.

At 17:00 they will march along the following route: Bell Garden – David the King – Plummer – Keren-Hisod Street – King George Street – Hillel Street – Menashe Ben-Israel Street – Independence Garden.

The rally at the Independence Garden is expected to end around 9:00 p.m. The police stressed that entry to the parade route will only be possible through the gathering area in the Bell Garden, Paris Square, David the King Street (near Plumer Square) and Histadrut/Shamai Streets. Exit will also be possible from those places only.

According to the police, starting at 14:00 the streets along the march route will be closed to traffic: Keren Hayesod, Plumer, King George, Hillel, Menashe Ben Israel.

In addition, the streets leading to them will also be closed to traffic, including: Agron, Elhanan, Shalom Aleichem, Mapo, Ahad Ha’am, Gaza (from Elozerov to Paris Square), Shmuel HaNagid, Avida, KKL-Junk, the Histadrut, King David from Plumer Junction, David Marcus, Jabotinsky witness David the King, Yitzhak Karib, David Ramez, Emil Botha and Eliyahu Shema.

The streets and roads that will be blocked will be gradually opened as the parade progresses. Throughout the march, the following streets will remain open: Derech Hebron, the Jerusalem Brigade, the IDF Tunnel and Haim Bar Lev Street, in both directions.
