A Spanish newspaper highlights another side of the German star
Before playing in the Champions League final with Borussia Dortmund against Real Madrid, there is an incident in Marco Reus’ life that he can never forget.
The Spanish newspaper “AS” decided to go back to 2014, when Royce paid a huge fine for speeding while driving without a valid license.
The fine amounted to more than half a million euros, in one of the largest traffic violations in history, after which the player left regretting what he had done and his reckless driving.
Royce said at the time in statements published by the German newspaper “Bild”: “Today I know that I was very naive and stupid. I decided to drive without a license and I do not understand the reasons that pushed me towards this decision. I have learned my lesson and this will never happen again.”
For its part, “AS” said that the German star used to drive without a valid license in the period from 2011 to 2014, and he was stopped more than once before this case, and he used to show the traffic officers a forged license, and no one noticed this matter before this incident.
Two years after this case, in which the Dortmund star was convicted, the player succeeded in passing the driving test, and his traffic problems ended completely.
It is worth noting that the 35-year-old is preparing to end his career with Dortmund after the Champions League final, as he decided to leave the team after the expiration of his contract, amid uncertainty about his next destination.
