Al-Nasr Saudi Club announced the appointment of Spaniard Fernando Hierro as the club’s sporting director.
The Mexican club Chivas Guadalajara had previously announced the departure of Spaniard Fernando Hierro from the position of sporting director after a year and a half of assuming the job.
Al-Nasr Club wrote through its official account on the social networking site “X”: “Officially… the Spaniard Fernando Hierro is appointed sports director of Al-Nasr Club.”
The Saudi club concluded: “We wish the Spanish icon success with his club, Al-Nasr.”
According to Saudi press reports, Hierro will be the primary responsible for football in all its categories, and his duties also include selecting the technical staff, and coordinating with the Portuguese Luis Castro, the first team coach, regarding negotiations with foreign players that the club wants to sign during the summer transfer period.
Hierro worked as sports director at the Mexican club Chivas Guadalajara, from October 2022 until May 2024. He also held the same position in the Spanish Football Federation in 2017, and worked as an assistant to Italian Carlo Ancelotti during his first training period at Real Madrid in the 2014 season, and coach of the first Spanish national football team. In the World Cup Russia 2018.
