Albania’s goal – the fastest in Euro history

The current Euro is shaping up to be a particularly historic tournament. After yesterday (Friday) Germany broke their own record for their biggest win of the tournament in the opening game, some more historic events happened today.

Tonight (Saturday) in the match between Spain and Croatia Lamin Yamal became the youngest player to play in the tournament and cook in it, and in the match between Albania and Italy the fastest goal in the history of the European Championship was scored.

Nadim Bayrami took advantage of a terrible error in the defense of the Azores, the champions of the continent for those who have forgotten, and defeated Gianluigi Donnarumma after only 23 seconds. The attacking midfielder of Sassuolo made a big history for him, certainly in a game where his team is not considered a favorite.

Until Bayrami’s goal, the fastest goal scored in Euro history was by Dimitri Kirichenko in the match between Russia and Greece in Euro 2004, after one minute and seven seconds. In third place was the goal scored by Emil Forsberg in the match between Sweden and Poland in Euro 2020 after one minute and 22 seconds.

Bayrami the Albanian has been playing in the Italian league for six seasons. He started his career in Italian football at Empoli in Media played four seasons and continued for another two years in Media of Sassuolo.
