Electricity confirms stopping load shedding in the third week of July and resolving the crisis by the end of 2024

This morning, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, met with Eng. Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, to follow up on some of the ministry’s work files.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister stressed that the state has invested in the electricity sector infrastructure over the past ten years, but the current challenge is to maximize the ability to operate the electricity grid in a rational manner that contributes to saving fuel consumption, while enhancing the ability to generate electricity.

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly stressed the importance of adhering to the plan to stop load shedding by the end of 2024, stressing in the same context the importance of raising the efficiency of the electricity utility and working to confront electricity thefts; to prevent the depletion of state resources.

The Prime Minister also pointed out the state’s keenness to quickly implement projects related to generating new and renewable energy, and to put them into service through connection to the national electricity grid.

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly directed the need to work on confronting electricity thefts, and he also directed the rapid development of the necessary plans for electrical interconnection with neighboring countries in a way that maximizes the capabilities of the national electricity grid.

The Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy stressed the ministry’s keenness to operate power plants in a way that maximizes the volume of energy generated, while taking into account the rationalization of the quantities of fuel used.

Engineer Mahmoud Esmat added that the Ministry of Electricity is committed to the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to eliminate the electricity crisis, as well as the Prime Minister’s directive to develop the necessary plan to stop load shedding during the third week of July until the end of the summer, in addition to stopping load shedding completely by the end of 2024.

The Minister explained that it is necessary to work in parallel by rationalizing electricity consumption by citizens, while adhering to the decision issued by the Ministry of Local Development regarding the closing times of commercial stores.

The Minister of Electricity added that the Ministry will also work during the coming period to activate any initiatives for electrical interconnection with neighboring countries, which will contribute to increasing the capabilities of the national electricity grid.

During the meeting, the Minister also reviewed the efforts made by the Ministry of Electricity to combat electricity theft and implement the best ways to raise the efficiency rates of power stations.
