This is the date of the transition to winter time in Belgium – Belgium 24 News Network

Belgium24 – The transition from summer time to winter time will take place on the weekend of October 26, 2024, from Saturday night to Sunday.

At exactly 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, the clocks will be turned back one hour to 2:00 a.m.

The change will add an hour of sleep and the sun will also set earlier in the evening, and winter time will extend until March 30, 2025, before daylight saving time returns.

The alternation between summer and winter time has been in place in Belgium since 1977, and at that time, the decision was made on these time adjustments to save energy, as the population benefited from longer daylight hours.

Since then, these time shifts have been widely criticized, with critics accusing them in particular of disrupting biological rhythms.

In 2018, the European Commission decided to look into the issue by proposing to abolish the rotation and keep only one hour. However, in 2021 it indicated that there would be no change “in the coming years.”
