Aston Villa suffered its first defeat in the Champions League after a 3-match winning streak in the main stage.
At a quarter to eight in the evening today, Wednesday, the Club Brugge team met with Aston Villa at the Jan Breidal Stadium, while the Veltins Arena hosted the match between Shakhtar and Young Boys of Switzerland, within the matches of the fourth round of the Champions League.
Club Brugge succeeded in achieving victory, causing Aston Villa to suffer its first defeat, after defeating Young Boys in the first round with a score of 3-0, and in the second round it defeated Bayern Munich with a score of 1-0, and defeated Bologna 2-0 in the last round.
As for Club Brugge, they started the tournament with a defeat from Borussia Dotmund with a score of 3-0, then beat Sturm Graz with a score of 1-0, and were defeated by Milan with a score of 3-1 in the last round.
The only goal of the match was scored by Hans Vanaken from a penalty kick awarded by the match referee in the 52nd minute.

At the German club Schalke Stadium, Shakhtar defeated Young Boys with a score of 2-1, and the Ukrainian team had drawn 0-0 with Poland and then suffered a defeat from Atalanta with a score of 3-0, and was also defeated by Arsenal with a score of 1-0.
As for the Young Boys team, it is still searching for itself after suffering 3 defeats against Aston Villa (3-0), Barcelona (5-0), and Inter Milan (1-0).
Young Boys took the initiative to score in the 27th minute through Kastriut Emery, before Shakhtar succeeded in creating a “remontada” that won them the victory, after scoring a brace through Oleksandr Zubkov and Georgi Sudakov in the 31st and 41st minutes.
