Al-Taawoun succeeded in defeating its host, Altyn Asyr of Turkmenistan, in the fourth round of the second group matches of the AFC Champions League 2.
Al-Taawoun dominated the entire match, but its first goal was delayed until the 36th minute when its striker Musa Barrow shot a powerful ball from outside the area into the net, before Sultan Mandesh doubled the score four minutes later.
Al-Taawoun benefited from the expulsion of Altyn Asir defender Hochjeldi Hugovov in the 61st minute in the best possible way, after Barrow added his team’s third goal six minutes later, before substitute Ahmed Bahassin concluded the goals of the match two minutes before the end of the match.
In the same group, Al-Khalidiya of Bahrain won 4-1 over its guest, Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya of Iraq. Al-Taawoun leads the group with nine points, ahead of Al-Khalidiya on goal difference, while Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya occupies third place with six points, and Altin Asir is at the bottom of the standings without a score.
In a match held for the fourth group, Al-Hussein of Jordan won 2-1 over Nasaf of Uzbekistan, to advance to the top of the group, while the Kuwaiti team, Al-Kuwait, gave up its lead twice to draw 3-3 against its guest, Shabab Al-Ahly of the Emirates.
Al-Hussein leads the group standings with nine points, two points ahead of Shabab Al-Ahly, while Nassaf ranks third with four points, and Al-Kuwait bottoms the standings with two points.
