President of Estonia: The European Union’s partnership with Egypt enhances bilateral cooperation

Regarding Gaza, Karis stressed that his country recognizes and supports Egypt’s role as a peacemaker, and fully supports the two-state solution as a path to lasting peace, expressing his deep concern about the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East.

He stressed that Egypt plays an important role in the efforts aimed at reaching a permanent ceasefire for the conflict in Gaza, and its efforts to secure ceasefire agreements and provide humanitarian aid are necessary to alleviate the severity of the humanitarian crisis and prevent further escalation.

He stressed the urgent need to reach a ceasefire, increase the entry of humanitarian aid, and support the work of UNRWA in providing basic services to Palestinian refugees, stressing that the stability of the Middle East is crucial not only to the region but also to global peace and security.

The Estonian President called on the international community to work to reach a peaceful solution based on international law and humanitarian principles, stressing the importance of international cooperation to achieve stability in the Middle East region and in Ukraine, noting the importance of all countries ensuring the achievement of peace based on the principles stipulated in the Charter of Nations.
