Iraq will face Jordan in a summit match at Basra Stadium, in the fifth round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals in America, Canada and Mexico.
The Jordanian team occupies second place in the second group with the same score (7) with its Iraqi counterpart, superior by goal difference, while the South Korean team leads the group with 10 points, and Oman and Kuwait came in fourth and fifth places with 3 points each, and Palestine is at the bottom of the standings with two points.
The Iraqi and Jordanian teams met in 47 previous matches in all competitions, the last of which was in the 16-final of the Asian Cup in Qatar 2024, when Jordan won 3-2.
The “Lions of Mesopotamia” team won 28 matches, compared to 11 victories for Al-Nashama, and 8 matches were tied.
