About a month ago we published for the first time here at ONE that Ofer Yanai may introduce a partner to Hapoel Tel Aviv. Now ONE has learned that things are progressing at a fast pace and we may see the Reds owner sell a significant amount of his interest in the club soon.
Ofer Yanai is in advanced talks with an investment fund and also with another businessman with the aim of selling 25% of Hapoel Tel Aviv. The amount that the owner of the Israeli runner-up is supposed to earn is an amount in the area of NIS 50 million, when the money is expected to be put directly into the club’s coffers and used for the needs of the team.
When Yanai joined Hapoel Tel Aviv he bought 51% of the group, and the Hapoel Osishkin Tel Aviv association kept 19% for itself and Avi Seidenberg was in charge of the remaining 30 percent. In time Seidenberg announced that he was leaving Vienna took his 30% and had a total of 81%. Now, we may see it drop to 56% ownership.
We will add that Shinai was obligated to invest 30 million NIS in five years according to the agreement he signed with the association when he bought the club, but it is clear that he has already invested more than that and set a record budget here that reached 100 million. Now, the owner has decided that he probably wants to bring in a partner, but of course he is not expected to give up the majority ownership and he will keep over 50% for himself.
