While being asked by the correspondent of the “Durina Ghare” program about Iraq’s chances of qualifying, in light of the presence of teams in its group that are candidates for the title, such as Saudi Arabia, Younis Mahmoud commented, saying, “Saudi Arabia is coming for the title?”, and laughed, then added that the Bahraini brothers also say that they They are coming for the title, and they were told that this is normal. The Bahrainis, the Qataris, and the Kuwaitis… They are all coming for the title, and this is the sweetness of the Gulf Cup. What is more beautiful than the title is the Gulf gathering.

In this context, the journalist, Khaled Al-Shaneef, responded to the Iraqi football legend’s message, saying, “Younes Mahmoud laughed when he said, ‘Saudi Arabia is coming for the title.’ Our date is the third match, God willing. The Iraqi national team, the defending champion, began its campaign in Zain Gulf 26, by defeating Yemen, with a score of (1-0), in the first round match, while the Saudi and Iraqi national teams will meet, next Saturday, at Jaber Al-Ahmad Stadium, in the third and final round of the group stage.
