Nintendo announced that its long-awaited new device, the Switch 2, will be available this year, and will come with a larger screen than its predecessor and two controllers with an external cover, in a move aimed at boosting the company’s faltering sales.
In a video clip on Thursday, the developer of “Super Mario” showed off her new device separate from the two controllers, while increasing the size of the tablet on which they are installed.
The joysticks come in light blue and red, and have covers that are able to connect magnetically when removed from the main tablet, which can connect directly to TV screens.
While the company did not specify a date for the device’s release, it indicated that more details would be revealed during an online event held on April 2.
Nintendo said that the new device will be backward compatible, which means users will be able to play old games on the updated version.
