Development of the new Old Trafford stadium
The English newspaper “The Telegraph” revealed that Manchester United is planning to build a new stadium or develop Old Trafford, with a budget that may reach 2 billion pounds, generating about 7.3 million pounds annually.
The Telegraph said that Manchester United must choose between building a new stadium worth 2 billion pounds in the style of Wembley North, or developing Old Trafford and increasing its capacity to 87,000 spectators.
She added that the Old Trafford regeneration working group, led by Sir Ratcliffe, would have to make a decisive decision at the end of the current season.
The Telegraph explained that the new Old Trafford project will generate 7.3 billion pounds sterling for the British economy, and will create about 90,000 job opportunities.
She indicated that it may take 7 years to build the new Manchester United stadium, which will be the largest in Britain, and high-level talks are underway to reuse the land surrounding Old Trafford, which amounts to 100 acres.
The Telegraph concluded that the project to build the new stadium will amount to 2 to 2.3 billion pounds sterling, while redeveloping the stadium to increase crowd capacity will cost only about 1.2 billion pounds sterling.
