A journey full of creativity
Abdul Aziz Al-Haddad was born in the 1950s to a family that loved art, and began his artistic career at an early age, as he participated in his first theatrical work entitled “Her Luck Breaks the Rock” in 1963, when he was 13 years old. Despite his great passion for art, he insisted on completing his academic studies and graduated from the College of Engineering in 1977, combining academic life with artistic professionalism.
Al-Haddad was distinguished by his multi-talented talents, as he experimented with acting, writing, and directing, and presented many prominent works in theater and television. Among his most prominent directorial works are the plays “Fadwa for You,” “The Beautiful Princess,” “Dafasha,” “In the Occupation Trench,” and “Samba’s Birthday.” He also directed the TV evening “Family Eid” and the radio series “Umm Matih Madawi.”
As for writing, he wrote plays such as “The Blind and the Love” and “Wanasa,” in addition to the movie “Aziza.”
Over the course of more than 5 decades, Al-Haddad participated as an actor in a large number of works. He presented on stage “The Lost Family” and “Ikara,” and participated in the films “Adnan,” “The American” and “Hama.”
In television dramas, he also presented “Luck and Millions,” “The Lost Sword,” “As Much as Souls Can Hold,” “Light of My Eyes,” “Without Identity,” “The Heirs,” “High Heels,” “Wadeema,” and “Five Sisters.” “The One Who Doesn’t Come First”, “Stuck”, and his most prominent work is his portrayal of the character Hilal Al-Mutairi in the series “Lion of the Island”, directed by Basil Al-Khatib, which is a historical series that dealt with the period of the rule of Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah between 1986 and And 1915, and the important historical events of that period, and his last appearance on screen was in 2023 with his participation in the series “Jabriya: The Journey 2023.”
With the passing of Abdulaziz Al-Haddad, the Kuwaiti artistic community lost one of the most prominent signs of theater and drama in the Arab world, which maintained its position over an extended journey that began in the 1960s and continued into the new millennium, leaving a diverse artistic legacy.
