Two fire crews from the Galilee-Golan station worked yesterday (Monday) from the evening hours on a fire that broke out in an open area in the Metula area, as a result of firing from Lebanese territory.
The firefighters operated in the field together with the teams of the Nature and Parks Authority and the “home guards” volunteers of the alert squad in Metula, who were equipped with a fire truck and trained for initial extinguishing and rescue operations until the firefighters arrived at the scene.
During the firefighting operations, the commander of the northern district of Tafsar, Yair Elkayam, made a situation assessment with the head of the Matula council, David Azoulai, in the local HML.
Rabbi Shimon Ohion, commander of the incident: “The fire moved in front of a large fire and after an effort of several hours, together with the RTG teams and the volunteers of the “Home Guards” of Metula, we stopped the spread of the fire towards the settlement and the nearby outposts.”
