Last week, Tomer Capon caused quite a public uproar when he harshly attacked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and wrote that he is a “serious piece of shit”, and “his hands are tattooed with blood and pain”. Last night (Motash) after he said he received threats on his life, he apologized.
“The truth is, as an actor, I’m really not looking for publicity in the context of politics, I’m not there,” Capone wrote. He later explained the reason for the harsh words against the prime minister. “I saw that the things I wrote received a media echo last week. They were written out of a storm of emotions, real pain, and a startling feeling that flooded my senses after watching the movie ‘Tiki Bibi’, and again the same feeling after the ‘Ovda’ investigation into the poison machine.”
Capone took stock, and came to the conclusion that his statements did not contribute to the unifying discourse. “Unfortunately, I feel that the direct and blunt language I used only added fuel to the fires that are still burning in our country, and for that I am sorry. I do not want to be part of such a divisive mess. This is not me. I am not the left, I am not the right, I am not us And neither are they.”
Tomer also shared that he received threats on his life following his words against Netanyahu. “In a recently published article, I shared that I receive threats on my life from Palestinians, because I am a proud Israeli who advocates for the good of the country abroad. How sad now that I actually receive threats on my life from my home, my country.”
However, he continued to criticize the leadership. “We are losing grip,” he claimed. “We deserve to have responsible hands on the wheel, to lead us to a unified horizon. We all deserve much more. I wish everyone a happy Holiday of Lights, and pray for miracles and wonders.”
