Al-Ahly announces the loan of Hamdi Fathi from Al-Wakra before the World Cup

Al-Ahly Club announced this evening, Sunday, that Hamdi Fathi, a player for the Qatari Al-Wakrah team, was officially loaned before the 2025 Club World Cup.

Al-Ahly’s official website indicated that Mahmoud Al-Khatib, President of Al-Ahly, paid a friendly visit today, Sunday, to Sheikh Khalifa bin Hassan, President of the Qatari Al-Wakra Club, who officially agreed to join Hamdi Fathi on loan to Al-Ahly’s ranks before playing the 2025 Club World Cup matches.

Hamdi Fathi had moved to the Qatari club Al-Wakrah on July 4, 2023, coming from Al-Ahly club.

The 30-year-old player played 37 matches for 3,233 minutes, during which he scored 4 goals and provided 3 assists.

Hamdi Fathi won 14 championships with Al-Ahly Club before moving to Al-Wakrah Club, as follows: “3 African Champions League, 3 Egyptian Cup, 3 Egyptian Super Cup, 3 Egyptian League, 2 African Super Cup.”

Al-Ahly was defeated yesterday evening, Saturday, on penalties, with a score of 6-5, against the Mexican team Pachuca, in the match that was held in the semi-finals of the Intercontinental Confederations Cup.

Al-Ahly had signed in Group A of the 2025 Club World Cup, along with Inter Miami of the United States, Palmeiras of Brazil, and Porto of Portugal.

Al-Ahly is scheduled to open the tournament against Inter Miami next June 15, in the United States of America, and the tournament will conclude on July 13.

Exceptional registration period

The regulations of the 2025 Club World Cup stipulate that they grant teams an exceptional transfer period during the period from June 1 to 10, 2025, provided that it is approved locally for each participating team.

Clubs can also replace players whose contracts have expired naturally during the tournament, from June 27 to July 3. Clubs can add a maximum of two new players to the final list, and they will not be counted within the maximum of 35 players.
