The water used to control a massive fire that broke out in a clothing warehouse in a building facing the Attaba garage on Friday caused the building to collapse.

Although about 20 hours have passed since the fire broke out, the cooling operations have not stopped yet, and a fire engine is still stationed at the fire site to intervene in an emergency.

Cairo security forces detained the shoe store owner on charges of causing the fire. Five injured people are receiving treatment in hospital for suffocation, and the Public Prosecution has authorized the burial of the only deceased.

Cairo Governor Ibrahim Saber decided to form an engineering committee to inspect the two buildings that caught fire on Al-Gawhary Street in Al-Mosky district and the neighboring buildings to determine the extent of their impact from the incident.

The Governor of Cairo followed up on the efforts of the Civil Protection to control the fire and the cooling operations, and directed the rapid removal of the effects resulting from it after the Public Prosecution and the Criminal Investigation Department finished inspecting the site to determine the causes of the accident.
