Algeria: A man was found, held captive by his neighbor inside a hole in a barn for 28 years

A video clip spread of the moment an Algerian named Omar Ben Omran was found inside a hole in a sheep barn owned by his neighbor in the city of Djelfa in the south of the country.

The State Judicial Council ordered the opening of an in-depth investigation and the arrest of the suspect, the 61-year-old owner of the residence.

The beginning of the story dates back to the year 1996, during the civil war, or what is known as the “Black Decade,” when the young man, Omar, disappeared. He was 16 years old at the time. After a lengthy search operation that failed, Muhammad was declared missing.
