The Israeli Broadcasting Authority said that the head of the Israeli intelligence service (Mossad), David Barnea, will present to the War Council this evening, Sunday, a summary of his talks in Paris regarding the release of prisoners.
Yesterday, Saturday, US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director William Burns discussed the exchange deal in meetings with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, and the head of the Mossad, according to the Axios website.
The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth quoted sources as saying that the discussions in Paris were very successful and it was agreed to move the exchange negotiations forward.
The Hebrew newspaper, quoting the sources, added, “We do not want the negotiations to reach a state of stalemate, because time is important for the prisoners.”
The American website Axios, quoting an Israeli official, said that the Mossad director returned to Israel after meeting with CIA Director William Burns and Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani in Paris.
The Israeli official added that Burns agreed with the Mossad director and the Prime Minister of Qatar to resume prisoner talks, noting that the three parties discussed in Paris a formula to allow the resumption of negotiations to release the prisoners.
