Bayer Leverkusen won the German Football League title for the first time since its founding 120 years ago, today, Sunday, after defeating its guest, Werder Bremen, 5-0, in the 29th round of the competition.
Leverkusen won the historic title in its favor 5 rounds before the end of the competition, ending Bayern Munich’s dominance of the Bundesliga, which lasted 11 seasons.

Substitute Florian Wirtz imposed himself as the star of the match by scoring a hat-trick (68, 83 and 90), after Nigerian Victor Boniface opened the scoring (25 from a penalty kick), and Swiss Granit Xhaka added the second (60).

Leverkusen, which raised its score to 79 points, advanced in first place, 16 points ahead of runners-up Bayern Munich and third-placed Stuttgart (63 points each) five rounds before the end, putting an end to the Bavarian giant’s dominance of the title between 2013 and 2023.
