Manchester City wrote its name in the history of English football after becoming the first team to win the English Premier League title for the fourth time in a row, by defeating its guest West Ham 3-1 on Sunday in the 38th and final stage, ending the season with a two-point lead over Arsenal.

City entered its final match with a two-point lead over Arsenal after winning its postponed match with Tottenham 2-0 on Tuesday. His victory against West Ham made the Gunners’ victory over their guest Everton 2-1 insufficient to give the London club its first title since 2004.

City concluded the season without any defeat in its last 35 matches in all competitions, since its loss in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals at the hands of Spanish Real Madrid does not count as it was on penalties.

With its eighth consecutive victory over West Ham, which was playing its last match under the leadership of its Scottish coach, David Moyes, City confirmed its dominance in the Premier League by winning the title for the sixth time in the last seven seasons.

Spanish coach Pep Guardiola’s team will have a chance to win the double when it faces arch-neighbor Manchester United next Saturday in the cup final.

City could not have hoped for a better start to the match, as they opened the scoring after less than two minutes with a wonderful shot from outside the area by the brilliant Phil Foden.

City continued its advantage and had several opportunities to increase its lead, most notably the Belgian Jeremy Doku, who collided with the brilliance of French goalkeeper Alphonse Areola (15th minute), before Foden calmed the nerves of the Citizens fans by adding the second goal in the 18th minute with a cross pass from Doku.

Foden raised his score to 19 goals in the league this season and 27 in 51 matches in all competitions, stressing that he fully deserves to be awarded the best player award in the Premier League for this season.

Despite the many opportunities and control, City were unable to consolidate their lead, and paid the price for that by conceding a wonderful goal from an acrobatic backhand shot by Ghanaian Mohamed Quddus following a corner kick that Guardiola’s players failed to deal with appropriately (minute 42).

The score remained the same until the end of the first half and the beginning of the second, which increased tension in the City of Manchester Stadium, until the 59th minute, when Spaniard Rodri succeeded in adding the third goal with a well-placed shot from outside the area after a pass from Portuguese Bernardo Silva.

An honorable win for Arsenal

Arsenal achieved an honorable 2-1 victory over its guest Everton, at the Emirates Stadium in the British capital, London.

Everton scored through Idrissa Gueye in the 40th minute via a direct free kick that was executed in a wonderful way and entered the net.

Everton was not very happy with its progress, after Japanese Takehiro Tomiyasu equalized for Arsenal in the 43rd minute, while German Kai Havertz scored the second goal for the host team in the 89th minute.

Arsenal’s tally, which had been seeking to regain the title it had lost since the 2003-2004 season, rose to 89 points in second place, while Everton’s tally stopped at 50 points in 15th place.

Luton relegation

On the other hand, Luton Town was relegated to the English Premier League (Championship), after losing to its guest Fulham 2-4.

Luton Town’s balance froze at 26 points in 18th place, 4 points behind Nottingham Forest in 17th place, who won in the same round over Burnley 2-1.

On the other hand, Fulham raised its score to 47 points in 13th place.
