The tenth round of the Premier League continued today (Saturday) when Beitar Jerusalem hosted Hapoel Haifa at Teddy Stadium for an intriguing encounter, in front of 24,500 fans. When it seemed that the game was on its way to a second 0:0 in a row, substitute Jacob Zeno scored in the last minute of the game to make it a dramatic 0:1 at the end, which lifted his team to the top.
The game opened under the control of the group from the capital, which reached several good situations, but was not concentrated enough in the last part. Over time, the Reds from Carmel slowly got into the rhythm and managed to get into good situations, with Timoko Diarra missing twice. At the break, the teams were tied at 0:0.
The other half provided quite a similar display. Barak Itzhaki’s team had more of the ball, but it was the visitors who ended up in dangerous situations. Guy Melamed found himself in front of a half-empty goal, but squeezed a huge save from Miguel Silva. When it looked like the two teams were going to split on points, drama ensued.
During the last move of the game, deep in extra time, a stationary ball was lifted into the box, creating chaos at the end of the match, the substitute, Jacob Zeno, made a great move and sent the ball into the net in the 95th minute. Immediately after the goal came the final whistle that sealed the dramatic victory of the host.
As mentioned, Beitar Jerusalem rises to first place in the Premier League table and recovers from the loss at the beginning of the week to Bnei Sakhnin. On the other hand, Hapoel Haifa with a second loss in a row, after the defeat in the derby in the previous cycle.
