Cameron Leary Delivers Again, Walks Off No. 14 Wake Forest to Tie Series

BRIGHTON, Mass. — Boston College Baseball (19-15, 7-10) rallied from a four-run deficit and walked-off No. 14 Wake Forest (23-11, 8-9) on Saturday night, with Cameron Leary leading off the bottom of the ninth inning with a game-winning solo home run to left field.

Trailing 4-0 going into their half of the seventh, the Eagles put up a four-spot to tie the game. Parker Landwehr (Baltimore, Md.) reached on a one-out single, setting up an RBI double from Sam McNulty (Cambridge, Mass.). McNulty advanced to third on the throw, and came around to score on a single from Cameron Leary (Bethpage, N.Y.). Nick Wang (Newton, Mass.) delivered a two-out, two-RBI single later that inning to even the score.

Eric Schroeder (Ridgewood, N.J.) entered a tie game in the eighth and took control, tossing two scoreless frames with two strikeouts, allowing just two hits and walking none. Schroeder earned the win, his third of the season. John West (Shrewsbury, Mass.) started for Boston College and turned in another quality start, going six innings of three-run ball, surrendering just four hits.

After Schroeder completed his second shutout inning, Cameron Leary stepped in to leadoff the bottom of the ninth. On a 2-2 count, Leary ended the game on one swing, launching a 450-foot, 112 m.p.h. walk-off home run deep over the left field fence. Leary’s game-winner marks his second walk-off home run over a top-20 opponent in seven days, doing the same against No. 14 Florida State a week ago last Saturday.

The Eagles will look for the ranked series victory on Sunday, facing No. 14 Wake Forest in the rubber match at 1:00 p.m.
