There was widespread controversy on social media as a result of news that Lebanese singer Fairouz rejected a tempting offer to sing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, while the authenticity of the offer or denial from Fairouz’s family or from Saudi authorities has not been confirmed.
Social media pioneers confirmed that the offer ranges from $3 million to $6 million, but the news is incorrect, as no official means for Fayrouz or her daughter Rima issued any statement on the matter, while it was reported that Turki Al-Sheikh, head of the General Entertainment Authority in Saudi Arabia, He made a huge offer for Fayrouz to perform a concert in Riyadh.
Speculation spread about the reasons for the alleged rejection, as some linked Fairouz’s rejection to her position on some events in the region, while some suggested that Fairouz was not satisfied with the terms of the offer, such as the location of the concert or the way it was organized. Some considered that Fayrouz generally refuses to participate in any events due to her health condition.
It is noteworthy that for 12 years, Fairouz has not participated in any concert in Lebanon or outside it. At that time, Fayrouz gave 4 concerts at the “Platia” Theater in Jounieh on the Lebanese Keserwan Coast.
Although the program at that time included 4 concerts by the artist Fairouz, the public demand prompted the organizers to try to organize a fifth concert, and Fairouz actually sang over a period of three weeks, on the 9th, 10th, 16th and 17th of September of that year.
It is noteworthy that Fayrouz’s last album was “Babali”, which was released in 2017, and included a number of songs Arabized and adapted from Western melodies, and this album was not widely welcomed.
