She added that legal measures were taken against the Sheikh and he was referred to the Public Prosecution.

The developments in the case of Al-Tijani, who is considered to be a Sufi, are accelerating, especially with the emergence of new testimonies of harassment against him from 3 women and girls, and the hacking of his official channel.

The Egyptian Women’s Issues Foundation announced on Tuesday that it had received three complaints from “survivors” who reported that they had been subjected to electronic sexual harassment by a sheikh from the Tijaniyya order, only referring to the first letters of his full name (S.M.T.).

The foundation said in its statement that the three women and girls came to the foundation to request the necessary legal support and immediate intervention to protect them from the ongoing threats they are exposed to by the sheikh and his followers, noting that it will review all evidence and will not hesitate to pursue legally anyone who tries to threaten them, by submitting complaints to the competent legal authorities.

The three complaints came four days after a Facebook post by a girl named Khadija, accusing the same alleged sheikh of harassment by sending inappropriate messages, one of which dates back to 2016, in which he sent a pornographic image, which she deleted from the conversation, indicating that she wished she had not done so in order to sue him for sexual harassment.
