Germany should be afraid: Spain was excited on the way to a battle of giants in the quarter-finals of the Euro

It wasn’t easy at the beginning, it included conceding the first goal of the tournament, but the Spanish national team will be in the quarter-finals of Euro 2024. “La Roja” came back from an early deficit en route to an impressive 1:4 victory over Georgia, and will meet Germany in a battle of giants on Friday night in Stuttgart.

Georgia, in its first ever appearance at the European Championship, surprised the continent by advancing to the round of 16. She was not satisfied with that and already in the 18th minute in Cologne stunned even the most impressive team in the group stage, courtesy of an own goal by Robin Le Norman.

But Spain is a completely different force compared to what the modest Cinderella has met so far in the tournament, and the level differences left no room for doubt as to the identity of the next level. Rhodri, Fabian Ruiz, Nico Williams and Danny Olmo reversed the result and secured a ticket to the last eight, where as mentioned the host awaits.

The Spanish national team arrived at Euro 2024 under the radar. She was not considered one of the top candidates to win the title. Now, after another great performance, it can be said that the commentators and betting agencies were not really in the business. Based on their four games in the tournament, Spain is currently perhaps the favorite to lift the trophy on July 14 in Berlin. One thing is not in the realm of “maybe”, but certain: Germany should be afraid, very much.
