Global gold

The global price of an ounce of gold continued to rise without stopping for the seventh session in a row, to record the highest historical level, in light of the support that gold received from the decline in the levels of the US dollar after the Federal Reserve Chairman’s testimony before the US Congress yesterday, which increased expectations of a US interest rate cut.

The spot gold price rose today, Thursday, by 0.4% to record the highest historical level at $2,161 per ounce, after opening today’s session at $2,148 per ounce, and is currently trading at the level of $2,157 per ounce, according to Gold Billion.

Since the beginning of the week, gold has risen by 3.6%, which is the highest weekly rise since October 2023, with gold achieving gains of $79 so far, on its way to recording a rise in gold prices for the third consecutive week.

Since the beginning of March, the global price of gold has risen by 5.5% to gain $117 per ounce, which is the largest monthly rise so far since last October.

Global gold found support during yesterday’s session from US Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell’s testimony before the US Congress, which did not bring anything new to the markets. He indicated that the bank will cut interest rates but is waiting for more evidence of a sustainable decline in inflation towards the bank’s target of 2%.
