For his part, the American website Axios quoted a senior White House official as saying that Biden informed Netanyahu during a phone call that the United States would oppose any Israeli counterattack on Iran.

The US official said that Biden and his senior advisors are deeply concerned that the Israeli response to the Iranian attack will lead to a regional war with disastrous consequences.
