Iran claims that it targeted an Israeli air base from which the strike on its consulate in Damascus was launched… and the Israeli army reveals the losses

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (CNN)– The Chief of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, claimed that Iranian attacks on Israeltargeted the Nevatim air base, where Tehran says the strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus was launched from.

Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri told Iranian state television (IRIN) that the “operation” targeted “the Nevatim air base, where F-35 aircraft were used to target our consulate in Damascus.”

For his part, Israeli army spokesman Admiral Daniel Hagari said that the Iranian ballistic missiles that arrived in Israel fell on the air base located in southern Israel, and caused only minor structural damage.

Hagari added that the base is operating and continuing its operations after the attack, and aircraft continue to use the base.

The attack on the building attached to the Iranian consulate on April 1 resulted in the killing of senior commanders of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. Israel is widely suspected of being behind the airstrike, but it has not officially claimed responsibility.

Bagheri added that the Iranian operation also targeted a “major Israeli information center” near the Syrian border with Israel.

Sirens sounded in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, with about 25 shells fired from Lebanon, according to what the Israeli army announced on Sunday. The sirens came after Iran attacked Israel with drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles.
