Today, Saturday, the Islamic Group mourned a leader who was killed by an Israeli targeting a car in the town of Al-Khayara in the western Bekaa, eastern Lebanon, while the occupation army said that the leader was responsible for supplying his faction and the Islamic Resistance Movement (agitation) with weapons, amid continuing border shelling.

The Islamic Group said that the occupation’s assassination of “the martyr Ayman Ghatma will not prevent us from carrying out our role and duty in defending our land and people in the south,” describing his killing as a “crime.”

Since the start of the border clashes on October 8, the Islamic Group has mourned about 7 of its fighters, and the occupation had assassinated two of its fighters last April in a raid in the east of the country.

The Israeli army said that it had assassinated prominent leader Ayman Atma, claiming that he was responsible for supplying weapons to Hamas and the Islamic Group in Lebanon.

The Israeli army added that it assassinated Atma “for his involvement in promoting an imminent operation against Israel,” and promoting cells it described as “terrorist” in the region, as it claimed.

Mutual bombing

This comes amid continued mutual bombardment across the Lebanese-Israeli border. Hezbollah announced that it targeted a building used by occupation soldiers in Al-Manara, the Ramtha site in the occupied Lebanese hills of Kafr Shuba, and the Zabdin military site, confirming direct casualties.

The party added that it bombed buildings used by occupation soldiers in the Metulla settlement, causing them to catch fire.

The Lebanese News Agency also reported that Israeli aircraft targeted the towns of Ramia, Khallet al-Warda, and Yaroun in South LebanonWhile the occupation artillery bombed the towns of Al-Khiam and Tallet Al-Azziya.

An Al Jazeera correspondent said that an Israeli drone carried out a raid on an orchard in the city of Sidon, south of Lebanon, without causing casualties.

On the other hand, the Israeli army reported that it bombed an observation point in Aita al-Shaab while a Hezbollah member was inside it, without confirmation from the party.

Israeli Army Radio confirmed that two homes in Metulla were hit by anti-tank missiles fired from Lebanon and fires broke out in the area.

Since the beginning of the border exchange of fire between Palestinian and Lebanese factions in solidarity with… Gaza On the eighth of last October, the Israeli army targeted areas relatively far from the border several times to assassinate leading figures. It also assassinated Saleh Al-Arouri Deputy Head of the Political Bureau of Hamas in Beirut.

During the past few days, the Lebanese-Israeli border witnessed a remarkable escalation, which prompted Washington to send its envoy Amos Hockstein to Beirut and Tel Aviv in an attempt to avoid an Israeli war with Hezbollah in Lebanon, especially after the occupation army approved the plans to attack Lebanon.

Hezbollah insists on not stopping targeting northern Israel until the ongoing aggression against the besieged Gaza Strip is ended, while Hockstein stressed that stopping the border escalation is contingent on ending the war on Gaza.
