After two consecutive draws, the claimants to the crown had feelings that they could catch Liverpool. Tonight (Sunday) the Premier League leader provided a fitting answer with a wonderful performance in 3:6 against Tottenham. The Reds scored more than three goals in a league game for the first time this season and remained unbeaten away from home, with the gap at the top extended to four points (with a game to spare) after city rivals Everton helped earlier by drawing 0-0 at Chelsea.
Tottenham beat Liverpool 1:2 the last time they hosted them and arrived relatively encouraged after the top five to the Southampton network and promotion to the semi-finals of the League Cup at the expense of Manchester United. But without defenders Christian Romero and Mickey van de Ven, their defense had nothing to sell against the Reds’ lethal front. Mohamed Salah still missed in the opening, but as soon as the dam broke through the head of Luis Dias (23) the direction was clear.
The Colombian broke a long drought in the league and then Alexis McAllister (36) hit his first of the season in the Premier League. The Argentinian made a mistake after five minutes and James Maddison took advantage of this to shrink, but Salah cooked for Dominic Soboslai even before the break, after which he scored an easy pair (54 and 61) that raised his balance to 15 league goals and 11 assists (the first to reach the double- Double even before Christmas), as he managed to prepare for Dias four minutes to the end. Shrinking goals from Diane Kolosevski (72) and Dominic Solanka (83) only reduced the humiliation of the host, who count four consecutive home games without a win in the league and conceded no less than 10 goals in the last two.
