Derby Day is here once more.
Manchester City (19-5-3) hosted Manchester United (14-2-11) in the second Manchester derby of the season.
City won again on Sunday, 3-1, after winning the first meeting in October, 3-0. Sunday’s victory gave them three straight wins in Derby clashes.
The Sunday clash had significant implications for both sides entering the match.
With a City win, the Sky Blues tie Liverpool in points atop the league table and draw closer to an uncontested first place spot by adding to their goal differential. Manchester City are looking to win their fourth straight Premier League title this season.
For United, a win would have drawn them closer to the fifth place spot – currently occupied by Tottenham – in the Premier League. A fifth-place finish would guarantee United a spot in the UEFA Europa League. For now, they remain in sixth.
City still have not lost a match since Dec. 6.
