Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population, received a detailed report on the measures taken by the Ministry in Aswan Governorate, against the backdrop of the frequency of cases with symptoms of intestinal flu in the governorate’s hospitals.
Central team oversees patients in 4 hospitals
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the report indicated that the central team from the Preventive Medicine Sector, which the Minister directed to be sent to Aswan, headed by Dr. Amr Qandil, Deputy Minister, visited the University Hospital, Al-Masalla Hospital, Al-Sadaka Hospital, and Daraw Central Hospital, and examined patients in the hospitals, followed up on the medical services provided to them, and checked on their health condition.
He added that the report also referred to visiting some houses in some villages in the Daraw administration, meeting the residents and talking to them to find out the current situation in these areas, as well as providing them with the necessary awareness. Some citizens were also talked to after Friday prayers in one of the mosques, to explain the health situation and reassure them.
The official spokesman for the Ministry noted that Health and PopulationA virtual workshop was held for doctors, heads of departments in hospitals, to train on the protocol for diagnosis, treatment, reservation and referral of emergency and intensive care cases. A meeting is scheduled to be held to raise the awareness of doctors in the primary care units affiliated with the Health Care Authority regarding dealing with cases of intestinal flu.
Availability of required supplies and medicines
The central team also held a meeting with Major General Ismail Kamal, Governor of Aswan, in the presence of Dr. Amr Qandil, Deputy Minister of Health, and directors of hospitals providing the service, to review the ministry’s efforts and assess the health status of the infected cases.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar added that the Minister of Health directed to intensify awareness of ways to prevent infection withGastroenteritisand maintain personal hygiene and public cleanliness.
He also directed hospital directors to ensure the availability of the required supplies and medicines.
