Books – Moataz Abbas:

Artist Abbas Abu Al-Hassan issued a statement in which he revealed the details of the incident where two women were run over in Sheikh Zayed City the day before yesterday, Monday.

Abu Al-Hassan wrote, through his account on the social networking site “Facebook”: “And God’s command was a preordained decree.” Caution does not save one from predestination, but rather they are preordained destinies. Yesterday, I was subjected to a major accident that split my soul in two, and despite the horrific grief and grief that encompasses me, My conviction and commitment drive me to clarify the circumstances of this horrific incident.”

He explained: “At approximately three-thirty in the afternoon – a busy time that would slow down the speed of the convoy of cars around me – while I was driving my car in the second lane from the left, on Zayed Road, an extension of the 26th of July Expressway with 6 lanes, coming from Square. Juhayna in the direction of the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road, returning to my house and on my left in the opposite direction is Arkan Plaza.”

Abbas Abu Al-Hassan added: “While the car was in the first lane on the left and adjacent to me, half a car ahead of me, they completely blocked my view of what was directly in front of it, and suddenly, from where I could not see, two women jumped in front of the car on my left and in a flash… The sight was right in front of my car – which made it completely impossible to see them before that moment (because the first car on my left was completely blocking their view of me). The two women jumped and ran, seeking to seize an opportunity to cross the road from a point where there was no pedestrian crossing or even an artificial speed bump – and they It later became clear to me that those two women on foot had crossed the opposite direction from the corners of the Plaza, and then rushed off the sidewalk separating the two directions to cross the highway river that I was on to reach the bank.”

He continued: “When the car ahead of me on my left almost hit them, the only way for them to escape was to jump forward to avoid it, so they were in my lane and close to the front of my car, so that the brakes did not help me to restrain the reins of my vehicle, so I collided with them and stopped immediately.” I flew out of the car to rescue them, and with the help of passers-by we pushed my car with all our strength and succeeded in turning it on its side. The weight of the car was enormous, but I and the passer-by were killed and we succeeded. We pulled the woman out from under the car, and we called for help for an ambulance. He came and transported the two injured people to Zayed Specialized Government Hospital. As a result of the car’s load exceeding my body’s capabilities, my Achilles tendon ruptured immediately and I fell to the ground and was unable to walk.”

Abbas Abu Al-Hassan added: “However, I fully complied with the established legal procedures, so the police escorted me to the Zayed 1 station first, and then took me in a wheelchair to two government hospitals to do a CT scan of the tendon, and it became clear that the two machines were broken, so they took me to the Nile Center.” For the x-rays and the x-rays were done, the police did not wait for the consultant’s report, and they took me back to the police station and I was interrogated and took all my statements and impounded my car for a technical examination by an expert from the Motor Vehicles Administration. At midnight, I was referred to the evening prosecution and investigated, then returned again to the police station to pay the bail. All of this happened while I was either in a wheelchair or on crutches.”

He continued: “During that time, I was keen to take care of transferring the two seriously injured women to intensive care in a private investment hospital under medical supervision to give them the greatest possible medical care, bearing all the expenses, and this was not a favor on my part at all,” continuing: “We also kindly asked the Public Prosecution to issue the order.” By unloading all the cameras around the scene of the incident to determine the truth about what happened, as I was not exceeding the speed limit and the road was at the beginning of the peak and full of cars, and their crossing point is not designated for pedestrian crossing, as it is a main highway and the main traffic artery for cars in Zayed.”

He continued: “A few hours ago, the medical report accompanying the x-rays came out confirming that the Achilles tendon was severed, which necessitates a rapid surgical procedure to repair the tendon next Thursday with Dr. Ahmed Al-Sharqawi, an orthopedic surgeon.”

Abu Al-Hassan concluded: “Finally, it is not my nature to shirk legal responsibility, and I am content to leave my fate to the judgment of the judiciary, and while I am confident that I did not transgress the law, and could not have avoided the accident, I completely doubt that I will be able to overcome the psychological burden and deep sadness of what happened to them. As for moral, human and ethical responsibility, my conscience obliges me to take care of these two women until God wills, and I also entreat everyone to pray to God to grant them life and full recovery.”
