The Brazilian star negotiates Neymar Da Silva to leave his Saudi club Al-Hilal, but financial details remain a stumbling block in the separation between the two parties, according to what a source in the club told the French Press Agency on Wednesday.
The source, who requested anonymity because he is not authorized to speak to the media, said, “Neymar is negotiating with Al Hilal to leave before the end of his contract at the end of next June.”
He added, “The club does not mind his departure, and only the financial details hinder the two parties’ separation,” explaining that “Neymar is demanding a large sum of money from his dues,” without specifying its value.
Neymar, the all-time top scorer for the Brazilian national team and the most expensive player in the world, joined Al Hilal in August 2023 from Paris Saint-Germain in a two-season deal estimated at about 100 million euros and a huge salary of the same amount.
However, the former Champions League champion with Barcelona only played 7 matches with “Al-Zaeem”, where he scored one goal and made three others, after he suffered a severe injury to the cruciate ligament in his left knee during his country’s national team’s match against Uruguay in the World Cup qualifiers in October 2023. .
Al Hilal removed Neymar’s name from its local list in January 2024 and replaced him with his Brazilian compatriot Renan Lodi, while this year it did not restrict him to any other competitions other than the elite Asian Champions League and the King’s Cup.
Brazilian reports stated that Santos – one of the most popular clubs in Brazil – is negotiating with Neymar to return him to the club that witnessed his emergence and brilliance.
The source said, “Neymar prefers to leave on loan, and the club wants him to leave permanently to prepare to bring in another first-class star.”
After recovering from his cruciate ligament injury and returning to play with Al Hilal in the elite AFC Champions League, Neymar again suffered a tear in his posterior muscle at the beginning of last November, when the club announced his absence for 4 to 6 weeks.
Despite his recovery from the new injury and his return to training last week, his Portuguese coach, Jorge Jesus, doubted his “readiness for the matches.”
Jesus said, in an interview with the Brazilian “Globo” platform, “A player who is injured for 15 months in Saudi Arabia, Brazil, or anywhere in the world faces some difficulty in recovering and returning to competition.”
He continued, “Without the slightest doubt, he is a world-class player, but the truth is that his physical aspects did not qualify him to be on the team” in the league competition, hoping that the captain of the Samba national team would continue with the team in the elite AFC Champions League and the Club World Cup.
Neymar’s long absence did not affect Al Hilal, which was able to win the local treble, winning the league without losing in 34 matches.
The club also achieved the longest winning streak in football history by winning 34 consecutive matches.
