CHARLOTTE, Nc. – Pitt’s Phil Fox was named Second Team All-ACC as a relief pitcher the ACC announced on Monday afternoon.
In 22 games this season, Fox owns a 3-2 record and has recorded eight saves. He currently has a 1.51 ERA in 35.2 innings of work, allowing just six runs all year. He ranks second in the ACC in games finished (20) and third in the ACC in saves (8). The Pittsburgh native has earned saves against top-ranked teams like No. 7 Duke, No. 8 Florida State and No. 14 Virginia Tech this year.
Fox is second all-time in Pitt history in saves in a single season and is already fourth all-time in program history in career saves.
At Gardner-Webb last season, Fox was named to the Big South All-Freshman Team as a redshirt freshman. He appeared in 23 games and made one start over 30.1 innings. He emerged as the team’s closer and lead the Runnin’ Bulldogs in that category with three saves last season.
