Randa El-Behairy reveals the behind-the-scenes of her departure from art
The artist, Randa El-Behairy, previously revealed the scenes behind her absence from the artistic community for seven years after her success in many works. She wrote on her personal Facebook page:
“Mr. President of the Acting Professions Syndicate, best regards.. This is not a statement of condemnation, complaint, or anything else. Everything is an objective presentation to you. I was fought and prevented from working without giving a reason, and indeed, after more than one rehearsal for more than one work and more than one attempt to enter artistic works, I suddenly found myself withdrawn from it and the work continued without me. This has been happening at a grocery store for more than 7 years, and they have been trying to do this for more than 13 years with the help of someone outside the artistic field.”
She added: “I am being subjected to pressure that no woman can bear alone, and I have been very correct regarding the papers and state rights, and all of my taxes have been paid since 2004, meaning I have had 20 years to pay taxes.”
She continued: “I recently discovered that they charge me excessive taxes even though I don’t work in acting at all, and every time I talk to someone, they tell me that all actors have had this happen to them, not just you.”
She concluded her speech by saying: “I was surprised that after the amount was paid first in the value-added building, they asked for a fine greater than the amount paid in installments, and a call from a tax official asking me to inspect all years of work from 2006 to 2024, even though I had already paid this.”
