Maccabi Petah Tikva found a coach. After Ran Kozhuk left in favor of Hapoel Beer Sheva, Dan Roman was appointed today (Monday) at noon in his place. This is after he applied to Maccabi Haifa to be released and for the first time in his career he will be a head coach after his request was accepted positively. The Greens also said it was an honor to coach with them and the evidence is that coaches like Masai Dago made the progress through the youth.

Roman, who served as the assistant coach of Hapoel Tel Aviv and Maccabi Netanya, signed with Maccabi Tel Aviv through his agent, Beaz Goren, with an option for another season if he reaches the top playoffs. Roman came to the Greens as Amir Nussbaum’s replacement in the youth team, but he didn’t even have time to start work at the academy and already advanced to the Premier League.

“I am happy and excited to sign with a team that I know as a player and that will be my first senior team,” said Roman after the appointment, “I am sure that we will continue the positive trend that this club is going through. Looking forward to the first training session!”.

The 41-year-old former midfielder began his career as a player for Hapoel Jerusalem in the 1999/2000 season and later also played for Maccabi Tel Aviv, Maccabi Petah Tikva, Hapoel Ramat Gan and also recorded a short foray abroad for the Dutch Windham.

After hanging up his shoes in 2015, he joined the youth department of Maccabi Tel Aviv and later served as a senior analyst at the German Dynamo Dresden. In June 2018, he was appointed as a second-year coach for Hapoel Tel Aviv and advanced to graduate.

He was Ofir Haim’s assistant with the Reds, until in July 2020 he left the club and joined Maccabi Netanya as Raymond Etwald’s assistant. Recently he successfully coached the youth team of the Diamonds and moved to Maccabi Haifa.
