Samira Tawfiq and the Curricula – Citizens: What do they want from the generation?

International Truth A wide controversy was raised on social media in Jordan due to the art curriculum for students, as it contained information about the biography of the popular artist Tawfiq, and the names of some of her songs, in addition to other Jordanian artists.

The curriculum, in addition to Samira Tawfiq, also contained information from the biographies of the artists Juliet Awad, Musa Hijazin, and Abdo Musa.

A Jordanian woman posted: “Today my daughter takes an art education book to watch it or to teach them music and when I turn the pages I find Samira Tawfiq and her life. Is it possible that our education has reached the point where our children study music and know who Samira Tawfiq is!! Where do they want to take this generation! As for the recitation class, it no longer exists. I remember in our days we would take a recitation book and learn the Quran, its rules and meanings… Where did this class go?! Samira Tawfiq and her life and music? There are a million questions. What do they want from this generation!! And where do they want them to go?! And my son is in second grade and his book is how to drum on the tabla and how to use musical instruments!!”

She added, “We, the people, must object to the farce that is happening because these people are responsible for us. Such books must be cancelled. You are all shepherds and each of you is responsible for his flock. I hope the issue is not ignored.”

One of the commentators on social media: “Samira Tawfiq, from singing, dancing and winking to a role model for generations in educational curricula… the ugly time in all its details.”
