The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia decided to prevent repeating Umrah more than once during the month of Ramadan to reduce crowding.
The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announced in a statement on Sunday, “It is not possible to issue permits to perform Umrah twice or more in the holy month of Ramadan to reduce crowding during the holy month of Ramadan,” noting that only performing Umrah rituals once in Ramadan achieves many benefits.
The Ministry noted in a statement that restricting one Umrah during Ramadan aims to reduce crowding, provide opportunity for others, and cooperate in organizing and making things easier for Muslims.
The “Nisk” platform said that if you wish to issue a permit for Umrah for the second time, a message appears stating, “Failure to issue the permit to allow everyone the opportunity to perform Umrah, so Umrah cannot be repeated during the month of Ramadan.”
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, in cooperation with the Saudi Tourism Authority, launched the “Nusk” platform in 2022 to allow Muslims from all over the world an easy travel experience to Mecca and Medina, and help simplify the Hajj and Umrah journey and obtain many services remotely.
The Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, announced that “the number of Umrah pilgrims reached 13.55 million during the Ramadan season last year, thanks to the facilities provided. This is the largest increase in the history of Umrah pilgrims from outside the Kingdom, as the number of Umrah pilgrims is estimated at 5 million, an increase of 58%.”
The Saudi government has developed a plan to raise the capacity for pilgrims to 30 million pilgrims and 5.4 million pilgrims in 2030.
