Club absence confirmed Wydad Casablanca of Morocco Officially announced the African Champions League in the next season, “2024-2025”, after it suffered a new loss at the hands of the Royal Army, with a score of 1-0, in the match that was held between them, on Saturday evening, in the 25th round competitions.

The Royal Army scored the only goal of the match in the 35th minute through Mohamed Rabie Harimat, after the same player missed a penalty kick for the Royal Army in the 24th minute.

With this result, the Royal Army strengthens its lead in the Moroccan League with 61 points, while Wydad stops at 37 points in fifth place in the ranking table, thus confirming Wydad’s absence from the African Champions League next season, with 5 rounds remaining until the end of the Moroccan League.

The maximum number of points Wydad can reach is 52 points, and this will not qualify them for the Champions League due to the superiority of the competitors, as Raja currently ranks second with 54 points and has 6 matches remaining, followed by RS Berkane in third place with 40 points.

Wydad’s only hope in the current season is to secure third place in the Moroccan League in order to be able to participate in the Confederation Championship next season.

Wydad was one of the most prominent clubs in Africa in recent years. It won the CAF Champions League in 2017 and 2022 and was runner-up to Al-Ahly last season in 2023, before it collapsed this season and was eliminated from the tournament in the group stage.
