Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani said that he hopes that his visit to Saudi Arabia will open a new page in relations between the two countries.
The Syrian news agency SANA quoted Al-Shaibani as saying in a tweet on “X”: “I recently arrived in the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, accompanied by Defense Minister Murhaf Abu Qasra and the head of General Intelligence, Anas Khattab.”
Al-Shaibani added: “Through this first visit in the history of a free Syria, we aspire to open a new and bright page in Syrian-Saudi relations worthy of the ancient shared history between the two countries.”
Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Walid bin Abdul Karim Al-Khereiji received the Syrian delegation upon arrival at King Khalid International Airport.
The visit coincides with the arrival of the first pioneers of Saudi relief bridges provided to the Syrian people on Wednesday, which include food, shelter and medical supplies.
