The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed that 3 people were killed in an Israeli raid, on Wednesday night, Thursday, that targeted the headquarters of the “Jihad al-Binaa” Foundation in the Damascus countryside.
The Observatory said, “Three people died, including an elderly woman, and 11 others were injured, as a result of the Israeli targeting of the Jihad al-Binaa Foundation’s service center, affiliated with the Lebanese Hezbollah and Iranian militias.”
He added that as a result of the raid, “vehicles were destroyed at the site, in the vicinity of the Sayyida Zeinab area in the Damascus countryside governorate, which is about 700 meters away from the shrine of Sayyida Zeinab.”
Plumes of smoke rose from the targeted site, and coinciding with the Israeli attack, Syrian regime air defense systems intercepted Israeli missiles overhead.
The Observatory added, “A number of citizens were injured as a result of fragments of Syrian air defense missiles” that fell in the targeted area.
Earlier, Syrian official media reported early on Thursday morning that Israel launched an attack targeting a number of points in the southern region of Syria, which led to the death of two people and the wounding of a soldier.
A military source told the regime’s SANA agency that at around 23:40 on Wednesday evening, Israel launched an air attack from the direction of the Syrian Golan, targeting “a number of points in the southern region.”
He added that air defense forces responded to Israeli missiles and shot down some of them, and that the attack led to the death of two people, the injury of a soldier, and some material losses.
The Israeli army did not comment on this strike, until the date of publication of this news.
Israel has been carrying out strikes against targets linked to Iran, Hezbollah and the regime in Syria for years, but has intensified its raids since the Hamas-led attack in October and the subsequent Israeli war on Gaza.
