Hours after the official announcement of the countries hosting the 2030 World Cup finals, attention is now directed to the stadiums in which the matches of that edition will be held.
Yesterday, Wednesday, the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) announced that it would grant Spain, Morocco and Portugal the honor of organizing the 2030 World Cup, but it did not officially reveal the stadiums that will host the matches in each country.
According to the Spanish newspaper “AS”, there are 20 proposed stadiums to host the matches of the 24th edition of the World Cup, 11 of which are in Spain, 6 in Morocco, and 3 in Portugal.
Some of the matches of this edition are scheduled to be held in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first World Cup.
The stadiums nominated to host the 2030 World Cup matches
Moroccan stadiums:
- Hassan IIIts construction process began in the city of Rabat in 2024, and work on it is scheduled to be completed in 2028. Its capacity will be 115,000 spectators, and it is one of 3 stadiums nominated to host the opening or final of the 2030 World Cup.

- AgadirIts audience capacity is 46,000 spectators and it previously hosted the Club World Cup matches in 2013. It is one of the stadiums nominated to remain in the 2030 World Cup until the quarter-finals.
- Sports Complex in FezIts capacity is approaching 56,000 spectators, and it is likely to host quarter-final matches in the 2030 World Cup.
- The Grand Stadium in MarrakeshIt can accommodate about 46,000 spectators and previously hosted the 2013 Club World Cup matches, and it is likely that it will remain in the picture in the 2030 World Cup until the quarter-finals.
- Prince Moulay Abdullah: It can accommodate approximately 69,000 spectators and hosted some Club World Cup matches in 2022, and is a candidate to host one of the two semi-final matches in the 2030 World Cup.
- The great stadium in TangierIt has a capacity of about 76,000 spectators. It hosted some Club World Cup matches in 2022, and is a candidate to host one of the two semi-final matches of the 2030 World Cup.
Spanish stadiums:
- Santiago BernabeuIt is the stronghold of Real Madrid and can accommodate more than 78,000 spectators. It is one of the stadiums strongly nominated to host the final match of the 2030 World Cup.
- Camp NouThe stadium, which Barcelona is currently renovating, will increase its capacity to more than 103,000 spectators. It is also a candidate to host the final, but to a lesser extent than Real Madrid Stadium.
- Wanda Metropolitano: Atletico Madrid Stadium, which has a capacity of more than 70,000 spectators and previously hosted the Champions League final in the 2018-2019 season, will likely host one of the two semi-final matches.
- rayazorIt is the stadium of the Deportivo La Coruna team and it previously hosted some of the 1982 World Cup matches. It can accommodate 48,000 spectators, and the 16th round matches may be the last matches in which the 2030 edition matches will be held.
- RCDE Stadium: Espanyol Club’s stadium, which can accommodate about 40,000 spectators, is nominated to host matches up to the quarter-finals.
- San MamesIt is the home stadium of Athletic Bilbao and has a capacity of approximately 54,000 spectators. It is likely to host matches up to the quarter-finals.
- de Gran CanariaIt is the stadium of the Las Palmas team and can accommodate 44,000 spectators to host matches up to the quarter-finals.
- La Rosaleda: It is the stadium of the Malaga Club and has a capacity of 45,000 spectators. It is likely to host matches up to the quarter-finals.
- AnoetaReal Sociedad’s stadium, which can accommodate about 42,000 spectators, may host World Cup matches up to the quarter-finals.
- La RomaredaReal Zaragoza stadium, with a capacity of just over 43,000 fans, is likely to host World Cup matches up to the round of 16.
- La cartujaIt is located in the Andalusian city of Seville and has appeared in recent years as a host for the final matches of the Spanish King’s Cup. Its audience capacity is 71,000 spectators, and it may remain present in the 2030 World Cup until the semi-finals.
Portuguese stadiums:
- Light (Da Luz)Benfica’s stadium has a capacity of about 65,000 spectators. It has previously hosted a number of matches in the European Cup (Euro 2004) and the Champions League final in 2014. It is a candidate to host the 2030 World Cup matches up to the semi-finals.

- Jose AlvaladeIt is the Sporting Lisbon stadium, which accommodates 50,000 spectators. The final match of the European Cup was held in 2005, and it may host World Cup matches up to the round of 16.
- DragaoPorto’s stadium, which can accommodate 51,000 spectators, hosted the semi-finals of the Champions League in the 2020-2021 season and the final of the first edition of the European Nations League in 2019, and it may remain at the forefront until the quarter-final matches of the 2030 World Cup.
