Khalid bin Salem Al-Hooti, ​​Director of the Water Resources Control Department at the Ministry of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries and Water Resources, explained that dams differ in their capacity to absorb the amount of retained water, and that most of them are full, especially those located in the governorates of Al-Sharqiyah, Muscat, Al-Dhahirah and Al-Dakhiliyah.

He added in a statement to the Oman News Agency that the Ministry is working to empty a number of dams and then close them before any weather condition to store the incoming quantities of water, and what exceeds the capacity will come out through the dams’ overflows to flow into the valleys.
