In another context, Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, confirmed that the price of a loaf of subsidized local bread priced on ration cards at 20 piasters per loaf would not be affected.
Pointing out that the state is represented in the Ministry’s General Authority for Supply Commodities, which takes into account all cost elements and production inputs for manufacturing a loaf of subsidized local bread, including the price of diesel and gas, in light of the decisions of the Automatic Pricing Committee for Petroleum Products.
Farouk emphasized that the citizen gets subsidized local bread through the ration card at a price of 20 piasters, and that the state continues to bear the difference in the cost of production and pay it to bakery owners through the Supply Commodities Authority, and that this is within the framework of the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade’s keenness to provide subsidized local bread on ration cards and disburse it. to citizens on a regular basis.
The Minister explained that all the Ministry’s supervisory departments and the Supply Directorates, in cooperation with other regulatory authorities, stress the importance of adhering to all ministerial decisions and directives regulating the work of the subsidized local bread system, especially Ministerial Resolution No. 175 of 2024 issued on October 15, 2024, and any non-compliance with its terms will be dealt with with all seriousness. The ministerial decision, in order to achieve regularity and stability in the work of the subsidized local bread system and to ensure the citizen’s nutritional rights.
